Fall 2010 Playing Options by Age

U-7 This is the same format as U-6 only we are moving the age one year older.  This activity is open to all kids aged 5 or 6 on August 1, 2009.  If your child is younger than this but wants to play let us know.

Optional Move up to U-9 if your child is a high performer.  To do this register and then email the Director of Coaches with your requests.  The Bonzi registration software will not let you move them as their birthdate determines the age group they register.  We as a club can roster them on an older team but they should still be register in the correct age with the WYS registration software.  Please do not change their birthdates as this attracts the attention of the state when we identify the problem and correct it.

U-9 Same format as fall 2009 with Tuesday and Thursdays 5-6:15.  This spring season we will be trying a new twist.  On Tuesdays we play 4 v 4 with goalies and on Thursday's we play 4 v 4 without goalies.  This will change the way they play and will challenge them to figure how to be successful in both envirnments.  Will be interesting to see which day the kids enjoy more.

Optional Move up to U-10 which plays in the local WISL recreational league.  This is the traditional youth soccer model with two practices during the week and a game on Saturday mornings throughout the island.

U-15 Same organization as the last two springs with teams from the three island communities playing each other on Saturdays.  11v11 on full sized fields.  Anticipate 2-3 practices weekly.

GU-18 This is new!  High School aged teams are forming from both north and south Whidbey to play 8 v 8 modified soccer in the spring.  We are doing the same here in Coupeville and all High School aged girls are encouraged to sign up.  Games are on Saturdays and practices will be scheduled on weeknights so as to minimize interference with co-participation in spring school sports.  Training sessions will focus on better technical skill development, techniques for improved speed of play, and improved field vision and decision making.  Games on Saturday's are focused on fun and challenging players to try apply the lessons and skills in training onto the competitive field of play.
